The excitement continues to build as hundreds of die hard Atlanta United supporters travelled over to Charleston, SC, for the Carolina Challenge Cup, which featured ATLvCLB.
The day began with a combined tailgate between the supporters of the Charleston Battery and Supporters Groups for Atlanta United. Of course, Terminus Legion set up music, games and food for the fans coming to MUSC Health Stadium. About an hour before the match, supporters marched into the stadium, complete with singing, smoke and flags.
TL contributed to the tifo, a phoenix rising from the flames and the tagline “WE RISE UNITED”. This tifo was designed by TL member Andrew Ericson, with contributions from Footie Mob leader Curtis Jenkins. Members of the supporters groups worked on the tifo during the week at Red Brick Brewing, and planning has already started for the opening match tifo on March 5 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Match support was in sections E9 and E10, and supporters got to see the opening goal happen right in front of them, as Josef Martinez headed in from close range early in the match. Although the final score of ATLvCLB did not favor Atlanta United, voices were loud and strong through the game.
So, what’s next?
Members of Terminus Legion will be in Charleston Wednesday for the match against the Seattle Sounders and Saturday for the final preseason game against USL affiliate Charleston Battery, so stay tuned to the Terminus Legion website and social media for details on the opening match tailgate, march and match support.
